The architect Rob Dubois was born and raised in The Hague, in the Netherlands. He studied architecture at the University of Delft where he obtained his master degree with the annotation 'cum laude' together with Anton Gregoire on the subject of the recovering a worthy space for death & dying in actual society. Once finished his studies he moved to Barcelona and set up his own studio 'Rob Dubois • arquitecte' in the late nineties of the last century. Up to now he has realized over 130 projects located in the provinces of Barcelona and Girona. Parallel to his own studio he has teamed up several times with the group 'DKHH' (Dubois Kobari Hidalgo and Hartmann) that has built an important amount of commissions of mainly cultural buildings in Catalonia. His projects and built work, including projects of DKHH, have been nominated by different institutions such as the FAD, the AJAC, the Premi d'Arquitectura de Girona or the Triennal del Baix Llobregat. His work has also been included in the permanent exposition 'Dutch Architects Abroad' located at Schiphol, the airport of Amsterdam.

His is a continuous search for specific and balanced geometric & volumetric compositions to formulate the most exact answer possible to the complex demands of the commissions. The material and cultural context of the projects -such as existing local typologies or structural solutions- is always taken into account to integrate the proposal adequately into its surroundings. Standard solutions are obviously out of the question in his proposals but small tributes to his masters are often hidden in the details of his projects. Although he's been living for several decades in & near Barcelona, his (modern) Dutch roots will always be unmistakably present in his work.
